Mccain is temporarily suspending the campaign to go back to Washington to deal with the financial crisis. He urged Senator Obama to do the same. In today's highly political world, it's hard to see any move as purely benign or without ulterior motives.
Example: President Bush used former president Ford's death to talk about "making unpopular decisions." He was referring to Ford's pardon of Nixon, and used it to reinforce his belief that invading Iraq was a correct move. Way to sneak in political propaganda. Not even the funerals are safe!
Obama and Mccain are both entrenched in the political game, and their advisers will do everything they can to make sure every one of their moves is maximized and turned to points in the polls. Even though they both want to seem bipartisan, they are doing everything for votes.
Mccain needs people to think he's able to handle the economy- This is no different than sending out Sarah Palin to meet world leaders in an attempt to make people think she's got foreign policy experience.
They're playing the game and we've all got front row seats. They're putting on the show and pretending that they do it for the love of the game. We're paying for the entertainment, but will we get our money back if they stop the show?
I want my money back.
